I thought that also Donna but decided to try and be somewhat positive and not post it (lol)
  • Just for fun..
How true, although in some cases I think it takes longer than middle age for people to get their head straight.

  • 5 Questions About Puppies

A couple of months before we rescued Phoebe the light blond chow, we rescued a deep red chow. She was about 1 year old at the time. Her name was Koko and both dogs were alpha females and hated each other. Fortunately at the time we had a house with a finished downstairs and Koko loved being down there and Phoebe preferred upstairs, so it worked out. We lost Koko about a year after loosing Phoebe. Here's a picture of Koko

  • 5 Questions About Puppies

We rescued Phoebe when she was 6 years old. Some idiot was using her to breed and make money on her puppies. We lost her a few years ago to stomach cancer. She was a purebred chow.
  • Weird fact :)
I've seen lots of Puffins when we visited Newfoundland. Very interesting birds

  • 10 Powerful Habits That can Make You a successful:Part-1
Good article. I make a list everyday my "to do" list. Not everything gets completed, but I just transfer what I didn't finish to the next day. It works at least for me. I have my goals - short term and long term and I don't give up. If something doesn't happen right away, I try harder and keep my focus.
  • We Believe what we see!!!
1st impressions do make a big impression. The job interview is a perfect example. The person being interviewed is judged immediately on how they present themselves and the introductions and questions haven't even begun. If you can't take the time to look presentable, well groomed and interested, the employer is unlikely to put your Resume in the "Possible" pile.
If you are selling your home, you need to take the time to declutter it and perhaps stage it, so buyers can walk in and see a clean, well maintained home. These days realtors will tell you to remove all family pictures and stash all the knick knacks. These days apparently people see family pictures, they can't picture there own family living there - or so realtors will tell you.
I like to look at listings on the internet and view all the rooms. Well some of them are so cluttered and fussy I can see where that would turn some buyers off.
  • Think and act...!!

Hope you are feeling better soon. There are a lot of really nasty colds around at the moment. My husband who rarely gets sick, came down with a cold 9 days ago and still no signs of it easing up. My daughter came down with it at the same time (they had both been to the hockey game together) and she still has it as well. The rest of us are trying to keep our distance
  • Interesting Facts!!!
If I can get to sleep by 11:30ish I am usually awake by 1 to 1:30 and not able to get back to sleep until about 5am. On the other hand if I don't fall asleep fairly quickly then it's usually 3 to 4am before I get to sleep. On the other hand my husband seems to be able to fall asleep just about anywhere and anytime.
  • Keep your Univox profile updated!!
Thanks, it's good to be reminded to keep your profile up-to-date
  • Women's Day Special ( To our special female users)
Thank you Admin. Love the picture. When I was working the employer always gave each female employee a flower.
Here is a bit more information for anyone interested -

International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year.[2] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, especially those in the Soviet Bloc.[3] In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for people to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. Some people celebrate the day by wearing purple ribbons.
  • How to Complete Online Surveys Faster!!

Often there are several of these types of questions in the same survey, so if people completing them come across one and think they can just then randomly complete the rest of the survey, they should think again.
  • Think and act...!!

No they can't. We have places that take these items as well as things like batteries. We pay an environmental fee on our purchases and the items get returned to the proper sources for disposal. They never get put in with everyday trash, not that we ever have much with all the recycling and composting we do.
  • Mr."Nosey" Tomato

With the price of produce sky rocketing these days, local grocery stores are considering selling "ugly" produce. Instead of carrots that we think of for instance, the carrots in the ugly lower priced category could have 3 or 4 shoots from the main carrot. I guess some people might not be interested but as it would be the same vitamin/mineral content I would certainly purchase "ugly" produce if it becomes available.
  • How to Complete Online Surveys Faster!!
Great information admin. Often surveys will put in questions to identify those who don't read the questions and just tick boxes.
If you are truly reading the questions then you have probably noticed a question like - check "very likely" or check the 4th box or similar statements to catch the few that just randomly check anything.
  • 4 Ways to Stay Ethical When Taking Surveys
I agree totally, we are being given a chance to give our honest opinions and those opinions may very well help design or re-design products we could eventually purchase

This is so true admin, thanks for posting

  • How do colors affect purchases?
That's interesting Admin. I agree I usually trust recommendations from people I know but it starts to slide after that when I consider the source and often the recommendation could be from someone with something to gain if they can sell the product.

  • How do colors affect purchases?
You make a good point Univox. I always do my best to give honest opinions when doing surveys as I am sure most do
  • To-know Fact..
If you have surgery and need to sneeze they tell you to keep your mouth open - I guess so the sneeze goes through the mouth and not the nose. Well in my case I had surgery for both sinuses and they broke my nose first so they wanted to make sure my sinuses would heal. Of course as soon as you are told not to do something, we know that's what you need to do.
  • Scientific Fact!!
To do it quickly in my head, I take the Celsius temperature x 2, subtract 10% and add 32

    ie - 20 Celsius x 2 = 40 - 4 = 36 + 32 = 68 degrees Fahrenheit

Kilograms to pounds - kilograms x 2.2 - pounds (in round figures)
    ie 10 kg x 2.2 = 22 pounds. (exact would be 22.07396)
  • Scientific Fact!!
    Anders Celsius (1701-1744)
I imagine in that time, no one would dare question him. Here is a bit more information -

Anders Celsius, born in Uppsala, was one of a large number of scientists (all related) originating from Ovanåker in the province of Hälsingland. The family name is a latinised version of the name of the vicarage (Högen). His grandfathers were both professors in Uppsala: Magnus Celsius the mathematician and Anders Spole the astronomer. His father, Nils Celsius, was also professor in astronomy. Celsius, who was said to have been very talented in mathematics from an early age, was appointed professor of astronomy in 1730.

  • Coke and its initial Impact..
I don't drink any sodas. I prefer tea, coffee (usually 1 cup a day) milk and water
  • Think and act...!!
We all need to do our part.
We use Long-lasting light bulbs throughout our home. We recycle everything and have a good composting area in the back of our yard. We do not use harsh chemicals and prefer to use the old fashioned methods, like baking soda and/or vingegar. We take our own bags when shopping.
We buy sustainable fish products, and while we haven't yet volunteered in community projects for cleanups, we take a bag with us when walking and pick up trash. We lower the temperature significantly at night and during the day keep the temperature of the house at 69 to 70 degrees. Every little bit helps
  • Cute Fact :)
    What a cute picture
  • 5 Apps helps you to stay on toes!! Part-2
I don't have a smartphone, just the basic cell and I only have that in case I run into a problem with the car when I am out. While we have roadstar I did get into trouble once. Lots of snow everywhere and very slippery conditions. Roadstar was so busy they stopped answering their phones so I just called my husband. I was driving on the highway and got a flat tire and pulled off into the snow to get off the road. When the tire was taken in for repair, the guy found some idiot had driven a knife into the side of the tire and then broken the handle off, This happened when I was in another city for an appointment, so not like it was targeted. Someone with too much time on their hands
  • Did you know? Internationally, men average 3.2 hours a week on grooming and women average 4.9 hours.
Even when I was working it didn't take me that long on grooming, but I didn't wear very much makeup and my hair is short so it doesn't really take that long to do either
  • How do colors affect purchases?
Yes, colour is a big factor. You can like a dress or other article of clothing or find the perfect recliner but if it's not the right colour, it's unlikely you are going to purchase it.

  • Keeping an eye on the "Suprize Me" page?

No it's still not clear J Zerbs, but I just wanted to let the other members know how to enlarge any picture just in case they were not aware of how to do it.
  • Tickle moment :)
    How true- thanks for sharing
  • Mind set impact
If you hold your control key down and then spin the wheel on your mouse - it enlarges it if you turn the wheel forward, or makes a picture smaller when you turn the wheel towards yourself. Hope that helps
  • Food for thought
    Very true
  • Mind set impact
I enlarged it, but as godseeconomy said it's very faint and I can only make out some of it.
Is there a link that we could copy and paste into a browser to have a look? Thanks
  • Consumers Journey in exploration of new Products
I love using the internet to compare prices for the same item. Also I read the reviews if available, although sometimes you wonder if they are padded. I do like shopping instore and if I find a product that I really like, I will order it on line if I can't make it to the physical store - as long as I'm getting the shipping for free. As with godseeconomy all my groceries are purchased in store
