I just completed 2 surveys on corona virus :nerd:

I don't know , it depends on your area , if there are a lot of cases , and what they suggest . I bet your husband wants to go. In some places, like Italy , they postponed funerals . It's declared a pandemic now and most countries talk about social distancing . Hopefully practices like this will slow this down --- because if too many get it at the same time the health care system won't be able to handle it . If everyone works together , hopefully we will all make out ok . We have learned from China. Italy, and Iran.

It's a tough decision. Sorry for your husband losing his best friend . true best friends are hard to come by . :)

Thank you for your cherishing. Now that it's pandemic, we are still wondering about attending. My husband has been having the sniffles and occasional cough. He says he is feeling well. Lord, guide us. Let us not go just out of a sense of duty, but be prudent and safe.

Was shocked when I heard about the NBA suspending the season, ncaa tournament "March madness" will be played in empty arenas last I heard. That's a lot of $ and jobs lost.
Wonder if MLB will do the same.

Just be patient. Stocks will come back. They always do. As you say now is the time to buy at low prices. However, I want to wait until they stabilize a bit. The ones I feel for are the retirees who depend on stocks to supplement their Social Security income.

Prime Minister Trudeau's wife tested positive for the virus . She thinks she got it in the UK at a conference in London . I think Donald Trump might be next. He was close to several infected people. He has the sniffles.

I just cancelled my sports subscription , no sports to watch .....saved 60 a month there .

Bitcoin is tanking badly. Lost 60 percent of it's value Montreal is closing down . Almost everything

Now people seem to be buying out the stores of certain items here. Went to Sam's club yesterday afternoon for a routine shopping trip and there were more people there than I've ever seen on a weekday afternoon it was packed. Most items were still in stock but no toilet paper was left and some canned items seemed to be low or out of stock.

toilet paper and bottled water are flying off the shelves here. All Michigan K-12 schools are shutting sown for three weeks effective Monday. 12 confirmed cases in Michigan.

I think the scariest part about all of this is the people who are panicking and cleaning the grocery stores out of food and necessities.
  • J Zerbs

Noticed a few ppl were stocking up on bottled water don't really get why though. Do they fear the water supply will be contaminated or utilities shut down? Maybe they just drink only bottled water, always seemed pointless and expensive to me as many bottled waters have just as many contaminants as tap water does. Agree people overreacting is more concerning to me personally than the virus itself at this point, heard reports of ppl getting into literal physical fights over supplies.

Also hope the schools don't get shut down here. If schools are shut down I'd imagine daycares would be as well, if that's the case what are working parents supposed to do regarding childcare?

It is admirable how the young people in Italy are volunteering to shop for, call upon, check on the needs of those who are isolated/quarantined. My daughter and her husband check on and offer help to the lonely and elderly and those with very small children in their neighbourhood.

So, just got back from picking up my daughter from school. She will be off for the next month. ALL K-12 schools closed until April 6th, but their spring break was scheduled for the 6th - 10th of April. She won't return to school until April 13th. They will be doing school work online during the time off.

Our local hospital is limiting visitors to only one family member if patient is delivering a baby, having surgery or at end of life. Otherwise, there are no visitors. Anyone going for other reasons like tests are being screened before being let inside. I am scheduled for an MRI this afternoon. I was called last night and again this morning to be sure I hadn't traveled internationally or was running a fever or felt sick. I imagine I will be screened again before they let me in.

I nope to go the the grocery store Sunday. Hope there is something left. It has always amazed me now people rush to buy bread, eggs and toilet paper whenever there is even a hint of a disaster. When I am running low on supplies, I always buy more. I never let myself fun out.

Yes, schools, hospitals, scheduled large events are following the same protocols. I have to mention, I met with former co-workers for our usual "Friday Coffee" at Starbuck's in a nearby city. We were there for about 1 hour & 10 minutes.....not one employee wiped down tables, cleaned doors/door handles or cleaning restrooms and of course, no employees using even disposable food-handling gloves. On 2/29 I participated in a local charity run (5,000+ participants)...no problem; my charity race for tomorrow with probably only 1,500 (at the most) participants was cancelled yesterday.

Here's is another post from FB on 3/11/20....I actually know the person posting--my sister & BIL who are escaping the Colorado winter in Arizona:

"If you think that covid/19 isn’t something YOU need to be concerned about HERE, I encourage you to read the doctors’ reports about what is happening in Italy.
And, if that doesn’t concern you, this should: friends of mine returned from 3 weeks in Italy yesterday on the last flight out of Rome before their airline suspended its flights to/from Italy. This was the same day the Italian government announced it was locking down the entire country due to the virus. My friends flew into Atlanta, which I believe is the headquarters of the CDC. There the passengers of that flight were met with NO CHECKS WHATSOEVER...no medical techs, no one doing medical warnings or guidelines, just a plane load of travelers going off to their US destinations. My friends are fine but are choosing to self quarantine themselves for 2 weeks anyway but what about he rest?"

It's the same here in Canada . However our government is very against travel bans and says they do not help----- and do more harm than good ----This virus has no borders. https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/covid19-travel-bans-1.5495919

We have had people flying in from Iran, China, and Italy from the beginning every single day - no strings attached

There have never been any restrictions at all. Now they are asking people to contact the health authority if they have symptoms. -- which is common sense . Someone i know flew in from China last Sunday . There was no self isolation required . Air China did take their temperatures on the plane 3 times during the flight . That's it . :)

All schools have breaks, mid term weeks 2 weeks off, just incorperate some of these weeks into this month of closures.. ?? Uk they have 6 weeks holidays in summer, make that now two weeks
Bills, mortgages, utilities, they need suspending, governments, banks, all debts through monthly utilities need to be given extensive leeway , no one should be punished for falling behind in any way shape or form .. This has to be a united front, also, stores, petrol stations, limit quantities allowed per customer, should not be a first come First served basis..
More money spent this month than the last 3 Black Fridays , Christmases combined ...
The more people isolating, the more goods sold..
The more people isolating, the lesser work force to get these goods restocked ..
It could be grim if they dont share sales , theirs enough for everyone,

I received an email yesterday afternoon that the entire race was cancelled....we were asked to contact them on Monday afternoon to receive our race bib & goodie bag for participating in their "virtual" run. A.H.A. will still receive some funding benefit, but the major city park will lose the $5/per car entrance fee. Thanks for asking!!

I want to give a big shout-out to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. Even though there have been no issues at the park, they are closed (at least) until the end of the month & they have chosen to donate all perishable food to a local food bank. This is really hitting the tourist industry in my state. My daughter's family was at D'Land LAST weekend and hardly any crowds.

went to hospital yesterday for tests. Parking lot was so empty I got a spot right at the door All doors had signs "No Visitors" Nurses inside asking everyone if they felt sick or had traveled internationally in the last 2 weeks. Also took temps. I was early for my tests as I was told. Got right in. Many cancellations. Was done and on my way home before my appointment time. Better safe than sorry.

A team of doctors and nurses have landed in Italy, bringing their expertise learnt from treating Covid19 patients in China, to help Italy. They brought 1000 ventilators, 100000 masks, 20000 protective gears, 50000 test kits. How big their hearts, their concern for humanity. They flew 1000s of miles to help Italy in her time of need.
